Privacy.

1. In short
In short: this site does not collect personal information directly. With your consent, it uses Google Analytics to understand which pages are read, which links are clicked, and how visitors move through the site. You can refuse analytics and the site will work identically. No email capture, no contact forms, no newsletters, no advertising.
2. Who runs this site
Company31 is the advisory practice of Manuel Re, based in Sydney, Australia, serving small and mid-sized businesses across Australia and New Zealand. Questions about privacy can be directed through the calendar link or email address on the contact page.
3. The standards we follow
This site is designed to respect the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for visitors from the European Union and United Kingdom, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for Californian visitors. Because we do not collect personal information directly, most of those regimes do not apply in practice, but the design assumptions hold.
4. What is collected
| What | Purpose | Legal basis | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Server access logs | Security, diagnostics | Legitimate interests | 30 days |
| Theme preference (localStorage) | Remember light or dark mode | Strictly necessary | Until cleared |
| Consent choice (localStorage) | Remember your cookie choice | Strictly necessary | 12 months |
| Google Analytics cookies | Aggregate site usage | Consent | 14 months |
| Google Analytics events | Record which links and sections engage with the site (no personal content) | Consent | 14 months |
5. Cookies
Cookies on this site fall into two groups. Strictly necessary items are stored in localStorage, not browser cookies, and remember only your theme and consent choice. They are set without consent because without them the site cannot honour your previous choices.
Analytics cookies are set by Google Analytics only after you accept analytics. They are standard GA4 cookies (_ga, _ga_*) and retain for up to fourteen months.
5a. Events recorded when you consent to analytics
When analytics is enabled, Google Analytics records the following events in addition to standard pageviews. All events are aggregated and contain no personal content:
- Clicks on “Book a conversation” and “Open the calendar” buttons, tagged by which page and which position on the page the click came from.
- Clicks on “Read more” links on the home page, tagged by which discipline was selected.
- Theme changes between light and dark modes.
- Consent decisions and when the cookie preferences are reopened.
- When sections of the Practice page scroll into view.
- Rough scroll depth milestones on each page (quarter, half, three-quarter, and full).
Events contain only the type of interaction and its location on the site. They do not contain the content of what you read, typed, or selected. Names, emails, and other identifiers are never recorded because this site does not ask for them.
6. Third parties
Google Analytics 4 is the only third party loaded. It loads only when you accept analytics. IP addresses are anonymised in GA4 by default. Google Signals and advertising personalisation are disabled on this property. No remarketing, no advertising audiences.
7. Your choices
You can change your mind at any time. Use the link in the footer, or the button here, to reopen the consent banner. Your new choice replaces the old one.
Under the GDPR and similar regimes you have rights of access, correction, erasure, portability, and objection. Because this site does not collect personal information directly, most of these rights are satisfied by not having anything to exercise them over. For server log entries and GA4 aggregates we cannot identify individuals.
8. Children
This site is not directed at children under 16. If a child has interacted with Google Analytics through this site, the parent or guardian can clear cookies and local storage from their browser to remove any residual identifiers.
9. Changes
Material changes to this notice will be reflected on this page and in the last-updated date above.
